HCB review #14
Costco's Kirkland HCBs, 24 x $8.99 4/5
This is a surprisingly good bun!! It's soft, looks good, good amount of glaze, nice crosses and really lovely sultanas in it. They are small and lack a bit of spice. Sultanas seem to be the only fruit. I nearly gave these a 3 but The Man convinced me to upgrade them as they were quite moorish for reasons I can't quite work out. (Must be have an addictive chemical that makes you crave them fortnightly*) Taste great fresh and heated with some butter. Probably pretty good toasted. My slight issue is the fact that you have to buy them in a set of 24. Who can eat 24?! Probably good for that massive family gathering over the Easter long weekend or someone who is particularly addicted to HCBs.
Big thanks to Renee for taking me to Costco! :)

Baker's Delight HCBs $1.70 each or 6 for $8.50 - 3/5
Baker's Delight is a favourite for a lot people. This is a good looking bun, good glaze though slightly skinny crosses. They are soft and the bun bread is a dark colour that hints to more spice. There isn't that much though. The small sultanas a little strange (too many?) and also their might be a bit too much other fruit (The Man doesn't like them). They are a step up from Coles in both taste and price but they are not really that impressive. You can safely buy these for that HCB traditionalist friend when you are buying your own choc chip ones.
