Franken-bun choc chip

Though my reviews are based on these guidelines, I've taken the had  the opportunity to sample two choc chip ones of late. Both too sweet for me. (so not proper HCBs!) Here are my thoughts.

Baker's Delight


This is a chocolate from the word go. Neat chocolate cross. Neat small but plentiful chocolate chips (that go all nice and gooey when the bun is heated up). This is a wonderful chocolate chip bun. I can see why people are fans. It doesn't taste like chocolate bread and is soft and inexpensive. Actually nicer than a chocolate chip muffin in my opinion.  Sweet though. Too sweet for a HCB for me. 

Papa's (Haberfield and Five Dock)


Papa's HCB came by accident to my plate thanks to Flamingo-girl. Last HCB in the store for on a busy Saturday morning, this bun looks like a rustic HCB. It's not as soft as the Baker's Delight version (and it probably more expensive). I have yet to try Papa's normal HCB to compare but I wonder if they make these just for those who don't like fruit ones. I am not sure if I would bother. It's good enough. Larger chocolate chips, but still chocolate. No spice. Very sweet (but that is probably the chocolate). There wasn't much between this and the one above (except more $$ and harder to get!)
