Review #21 and #22
Review #21 - The poor cousin - Taste Baguette. 1 x $2.50. Score 2
I feel this will seem to some like a harsh score for an independent bakery just trying to make ends meet. This bun did taste better when heated up with butter. It had some fruit and spice which was good. But with no glaze, a little too brown for my liking and with really stiff competition from Woolworths across the road (in Balmain), Baker's Delight on one side and Bertoni's on the other, not to mention Adriano Zumbo down the road, Taste doesn't really stand a chance. If Bertoni's had run out and you were keen to not put your money into the big players, this might be the bun for you.
Review #22 - Winning the grumpy cup for 2017 - The Grumpy Baker, 1 x $2.50 - Score 1
After I had an amazing experience with the Grumpy Baker last year, I was super keen to try them again. This time I decided to leave myself plenty of time to pick up my HCB goodies and not increase my blood pressure anymore than required (that blood pressure that is probably not being helped by the HCB's going to my waistline. Eeek!!) However, the score reflects my experience in 2017. So disappointed. Massive fall from grace of a score of 4 in 2016. Tough, dry, and no glaze these buns were not even half the bun they were last year. I really hope it wasn't because I didn't get them freshly cooked . I confess that they did improve with butter (like most things I suppose). With a heavy heart, I will have to say, don't worry about this one for 2017. (small tear).
