HCB Reviews #2 & #3, 2016

HCB Review #2, 2016 - Thirroul Hot bread
Rating 2/5

As I have claimed in the past, I travel far and wide to provide HCB reviews. This little beauty is from our southern friends in Thirroul. At 6 x $4.50 it is very comparable with the Coles competitor next door. It's a good looking bun, with a nice cross and its soft and re-heatable. It does lack a little spice, but as I said in my previous post about Coles HCBs, it is very similar. I would suggest you buy this if you are in the area instead of next door as you are supporting small business and moving money away from the supermarket monopolies. And, to their credit, the bread shop was selling HCBs in January, which, in my books, is pretty awesome.

HCB Review #3, 2016 - Bakers Delight, 1 x $1.40 or  6 x $7.00 or 9 x $10
Rating 2/5 (JUST!)

Near every Coles there seems to be a Bakers Delight. And Bakers Delight is good at doing baked things better than Coles. I especially like the cheesy-herby twist things they make. Their HCBs are a very tasty, good looking bun. I love the glaze! However, with a a price premium double that compared to Coles, I suggest you only buy these if you plan to eat them ALL that day. Great for picking up in the morning on the way to work to bribe/share with workmates or pick up on the way home for that afternoon kids play date. Their reheat-ability is awful! They totally loose any softness and taste after the day you buy it. I realise some of you are not surprised that a freshly baked good does this, however, for someone who tends to buy bulk for convenience/family reasons, this doesn't work for me. I know I am being tough on the scoring here. Feel free to appeal.
