2018 - Review 9, 10 & 11

Giving the others a good go - David Jones 6 x $11.95 rating 4 out of 5

The David Jones Hot Cross Buns are really nice. They keep well. They reheat well and they look good. They are good for taking on the interstate Easter trip where you know they need to last a few days to be eaten.  They are not quite a 5 as I think they need a little more fruit. But other than that, these babies are good to go.

On pace but cheating (a little) - BreadTop - 1 for $1.40, rating 2 out 5

Bread Top's offering in this year's Hot Cross bun race keeps with the pace but I think it cheats a little as there is CHOCOLATE (yes, you read that) in these buns and they are quite cheap.  I wouldn't say they are worse than Coles or Aldi but the good thing is you can buy them singularly and not break the a bank (and your waistline!)

Needs a good boost - St Honore's - 1 for 1.90 or 6 for $3, rating 3 out of 5.

These buns are a bit better than your standard Coles and Aldi and they won't break the bank. They are quite good looking but they really REALLY need to be eaten warm with butter (How else do you eat it? Well.....) So these need a hot boost of toasting or microwave power but they will fulfil that HCB hole in your stomach.
